The Maze: Facebook Marketplace has spent a decade turning casual listings into a huge pool of commerce: Meta says 430 million items are listed globally each month. Now it is giving the supply side its own operating app. Seller brings listing creation, inventory, buyer messages and performance data into one workspace for high-frequency sellers. The app is available on iPhone to U.S. users aged 18 and older. Buyers stay on Marketplace. What moves is the seller workflow—and more of that workflow now runs through Meta's tools.

Source: Meta. Seller separates buyer conversations by listing and gives sellers a dedicated view of listing activity and performance.

  • Meta is separating the workspace without separating the network. Sellers sign in with Facebook, and their existing listings, messages, ratings and selling history carry over. Anything created or edited in Seller automatically appears on Marketplace, where buyers already browse. That is the clever bit. Meta does not need to build demand for a new marketplace app. It can give heavy sellers a cleaner back office while keeping discovery, identity and buyer traffic inside Facebook.

  • Listing creation becomes a structured production line. Upload photos and Meta AI proposes a title, description, price and category. Sellers can create multiple listings at once, then view, edit, relist or manage the inventory from one place. Meta says AI can prepare those listing details in about 30 seconds. For someone posting thirty items a week, the saving is not one magical description. It is fewer repetitive steps across the full catalogue. Better structured product data can also make Marketplace easier to search, rank and monetise.

  • The inbox and dashboard attack the quiet killers of marketplace sales. Buyer conversations are threaded by item rather than mixed with personal chats. The home screen surfaces buyers awaiting replies, items to ship and listings that may need repricing. Performance views show clicks, views, message threads and sold listings. Sellers gain a clearer loop from listing to interest to sale. Meta gains a more consistent operating layer around price changes, inventory refresh and response behaviour—the actions that determine whether Marketplace supply stays active.

  • The strategic prize is more supply—and more control over how supply performs. Marketplace already earns money from boosted listings. A dedicated app can make frequent sellers list more items, respond faster and reprice more often, which creates more inventory and potentially more reasons to pay for visibility. It can also make Meta's recommendations feel indispensable because the same platform controls the audience, the performance measures and the prompts telling sellers what to do next. The seller gets efficiency. Meta keeps the gate.

Why it matters: Facebook Marketplace grew from a tab for local classifieds into a channel that some sellers treat as a business. Seller acknowledges that reality. It gives operators useful tools without asking them to abandon Marketplace demand, but it also pulls more decisions into Meta's system: how a listing is written, priced, refreshed and judged. It does not add checkout, payments, fulfilment or new seller fees. Watch whether better workflow lifts active supply, whether Meta adds stronger paid tools, and whether the app expands beyond U.S. iPhone users. The bigger story is Marketplace learning to manage merchants.
