The Maze: Supermetrics, which connects advertising accounts and collects their data, has laid out how marketers can build or edit campaigns from Claude, Anthropic’s AI chat. Its November 3 announcement names Google Ads, Meta, Microsoft Advertising, TikTok, LinkedIn and Snapchat. The campaign feature is in early access. It requires a supported account that allows Supermetrics to make changes, and the marketer needs editing rights on the ad platform. A new campaign is saved in the ad account in a paused state. It won’t run ads or start spending until someone explicitly enables it. For an online store that advertises on several platforms, that puts some of the setup in one conversation while leaving a separate decision about when to launch.

The Details:

  • From a campaign brief to a paused build. Say a retailer wants to promote a seasonal offer on Google and Meta. The team can tell Claude which accounts to use, whom to reach, and how much it plans to spend. After the marketer confirms the settings, Supermetrics can create the campaign in the connected account. The marketer can check the ads, audiences and budgets for each platform before enabling the campaigns through Claude or directly in the ad platform. A budget on a paused campaign is a setting; it isn’t money already spent.

  • Account access and approval are separate controls. A connection that can read performance reports can’t automatically change a campaign. The owner of the connection must allow changes to the account in Supermetrics, and the user still needs editing rights on the ad platform. Supermetrics lets teams decide, account by account, whether launch, budget changes on running campaigns, or all changes to running campaigns require separate sign-off. Teams can also choose no separate approval. Even then, creating a campaign leaves it paused; enabling it takes another action. The pause on a new campaign doesn’t protect a campaign that’s already running from an edit the account allows.

  • The announcement gives the scope, not a performance result. Supermetrics already described Claude building paused campaigns in a July guide. The November release names six platforms for creating or editing campaigns. That doesn’t establish that every campaign type or edit works the same way on all six. Supermetrics says the goal is to cut the work between spotting an opportunity and acting on it. The evidence it shares is mainly about reporting. It doesn’t show how much setup time teams save after checking the work or whether the ads perform better.

MarketMaze Take: Retailers can test the workflow on a single account where they already know what a good campaign looks like. Give Claude a promotion the team has run before and compare the paused build with the team’s manual setup. Time the check of audiences, ad copy and budgets too. That tells the team whether it saved work or simply moved it from setup to review. If it expands to more accounts, keep approval for going live and for live budget changes, and check the combined budget for the promotion before enabling anything. A campaign that looks reasonable on each platform can still add up to more than the retailer intended to spend.
