LET’S ENTER THE MAZE!
1️⃣ News

The Maze: Some Indian shoppers can now start a Flipkart purchase inside Gemini or AI Mode. It is a limited test, with a Flipkart-branded checkout and no disclosed technology.
TechCrunch observed a Buy button on select phones and electronics for some users, opening checkout inside the AI interface.
Google had named Flipkart a partner earlier, but had not shown this live flow or its limited scope.
The test moves shopping from AI discovery toward checkout; its protocol, commercial terms and broader rollout remain unconfirmed.
Why it matters: Google may own more of the buying journey while Flipkart retains a branded checkout. Merchants need to watch eligibility and control, not assume a nationwide launch.
2️⃣ News

The Maze: eBay's limited US managed shipping test now covers more personal sellers and categories. It sets checkout delivery choices and supplies the label.
Eight category groups are now listed, but access remains limited to eligible personal sellers with Buy It Now items priced at $200 or less.
eBay's terms give it control of label prices; it collects buyer-paid postage or charges sellers offering free shipping.
Sellers gain a prepaid label and conditional transit cover, while final value fees can still apply to buyer-paid postage and returns may carry costs.
Why it matters: Simpler dispatch could help casual sellers, but eBay now sets more of the delivery economics. Compare net proceeds after label costs and fees.
3️⃣ News

The Maze: Amazon Ads now lets self-service buyers and agencies create DSP campaigns in five more locales, including South Africa; four had appeared in earlier DSP country lists.
Amazon names Belgium, Poland, Singapore, Egypt and South Africa for console creation of display, video and audio campaigns.
Buyers can use Amazon audience signals and Marketing Cloud, though market-by-market feature parity is unproven.
South Africa is the clearest geographic addition; the four other markets appeared in earlier DSP documentation, so this is a narrower access change.
Why it matters: Regional brands gain another self-service media route, but Amazon has not shown uptake, campaign results or identical features across the five markets.
4️⃣ Insight

The Maze: Vinted is compounding reach, frequency and ticket. Depop's premium basket cannot compensate for a shrinking UK shopper base and three annual purchases.
Vinted's shopper measure rose from 176 to 521 while Depop's fell from 31 to 15 in Consumer Edge cohort data.
Vinted shoppers increased annual transactions from 13.2 to 17.7; Depop finished at 3.1, turning habit into marketplace liquidity.
Depop kept a £32 ticket versus Vinted's £14, but higher order value is weak comfort when reach and purchase frequency both contract.
Why it matters: Marketplace health is multiplication, not one glamorous KPI. Vinted now has more shoppers, more occasions and a rising ticket working together.
5️⃣ Insight

The Maze: Gen Z leads AI shopping at 28%, but 22% of consumers overall have already used a tool for shopping in the past three months across the surveyed markets.
Millennials nearly match Gen Z at 27%, while Gen X reaches 23%, making this a widening habit rather than a youth-only experiment.
AI is entering the research phase first, where it can compare products and explain categories before a shopper ever reaches a retailer.
Brand information now competes across sites, retailers, reviews, and forums because AI answers assemble the shelf from more than a homepage.
Why it matters: Retailers and brands should prepare for AI-mediated comparison now: clean product facts, consistent claims, and third-party proof beat waiting for autonomous checkout.
6️⃣ Insight

The Maze: TikTok Shop spending grew more than 60% across every U.S. income band, making affluent underpenetration the channel's bigger strategic question.
Middle-income cohorts led at roughly 67-68% year over year in Q2 2026.
Spending stayed near panel parity through $150,000, so the channel is broader than its low-income stereotype.
The $150,001+ group grew slowest and underindexed at 0.83x, creating valuable but demanding whitespace.
Why it matters: Broad growth makes TikTok Shop a mass channel. Winning affluent shoppers will require stronger trust, assortment and service—not simply louder discounts.
